What is BankID?
BankID is by far the largest identification system in Sweden. Finansiell ID-Teknik BID AB, owned by several Swedish banks, manages the service. Today more than 600 websites, including many “casino Bank ID” sites, support the service and it works on IOS, Android, Windows and Mac OS.
You can get BankID easily via your online bank as follows, note that different banks have different menus.
- You log in to your bank
- Find the “BankID” tab in your bank’s menus.
- Download BankID to the mobile app or as a file to your computer.
- Choose a personal code that is six digits long.
- Enter your personal code to activate the service.
- You enable fingerprint identification for even smoother signatures if your device has the capability.
It is now your online identification that you use, for example, to make purchases or enter into contracts. You enter your personal code every time you sign a purchase or anything else with BankID.
Play with BankID
Integrating BankID at your casino does not bring any changes to your gambling other than giving you more time for it. You use it when you register and when you log in to the casino.
- First click on log in.
- There you enter your social security number.
- You sign with a personal code or fingerprint.
- Make your first deposit and start playing!
Withdrawals and deposits
You also sign with BankID for withdrawals and deposits to increase your security and further secure your money.
Most, if not all, casinos that use mobile BankID or other e-IDs have Trustly handle the transactions. It is the most established payment provider on the market, offering quick and easy online transactions.
You will also find no fees associated with a transfer via Trustly whether you choose Swish, bank transfer or any other method.
Advantages of BankID
The advantages of Swedish casinos with BankID are many and they all contribute to your user experience and security online.
- No complicated registrations means you can play immediately.
- You only give your data to your bank.
- No long forms or passwords. Just your personal code and/or fingerprint.
- You play at your casino without an account, when offered.
- Try different casinos easily with BankID because of the fast registration.
- In combination with Trustly, withdrawals and deposits are also lightning fast.
An online casino with BankID holds a Swedish gambling license which guarantees that they manage their tax payments and protect their players from fraudsters. They meet all the requirements imposed on them by the Swedish Gambling Authority. You should therefore first choose casinos with BankID.
When players at the casino log in with BankID, you will easily discover if you have an offer of, for example, freespins. If it’s also a casino with no wagering requirements, you can quickly and easily claim more bonuses without hesitation.
You quickly register with several different casinos and can therefore take advantage of more bonuses and offers. Your favorite games may be spread across more than one casino and you can use BankID to quickly switch between them.
Disadvantages of BankID
The disadvantages of your Swedish casino with mobile BankID or other casino games with BankID are few and negligible, but they should still be mentioned.
- You reduce your choice of casinos slightly.
- Foreign casinos without a Swedish gaming license are excluded.
- If you don’t have a mobile phone, tablet or computer with a fingerprint reader, you have to use a 6-digit code, which is not always more convenient than a password.
As mentioned earlier, your new online casino should be a BankID casino. Therefore, avoid casinos without a license and BankID whether they offer a great deposit bonus or something else.
BankID is popular
Currently, about 84% of the adult Swedish population uses BankID in some form, which is an increase from last year. Of those with a smart phone or tablet, around 94% use mobile BankID – a doubling since its launch in 2014.
BankID is popular because many people care about their privacy and security online. In casinos, this often means more time to play and you never have to worry about your deposits.
Most Swedish casinos have BankID today, which has made it a seal of approval for all serious casinos.
Things to consider
However, you should always remember to protect your data. Never give out your personal information to anyone else via email or chat. Do not publish them in a blog or similar.
The only person who needs your personal data, apart from you, is your bank when you use BankID. You therefore play with online casino BankID without the risk of ID hijacking or fraudsters.
It is easier to keep track of a personal code than several different passwords. Still, be careful with it. Try to memorize it to avoid writing it down and enable fingerprint or facial recognition if you can.
Remember to keep your BankID up to date. Your bank will periodically require you to download the latest version. You should always have the latest software version installed for security reasons.
If your download or use of the app fails or is difficult, it may be due to the following.
- Your mobile phone is too old
- Your browsing time is over for the month
- Something is interfering with your current connection or blocking it completely.
When you run into a lot of performance or connectivity issues on your phone, remember that there is also BankID on file to download to your computer. Of course, BankID on file works just as well as mobile BankID except for the mobile aspect.
Frequently asked questions and answers
